Galway are the third most successful Football county with 9 Senior titles, behind Kerry and Dublin. There is a rich source of great football moments to pick from that but the one we selected is from their last win in 2000 and surely one of the best goals ever scored in Croke Park. Just follow the move from their own goal line to the rasping final shot from Declan Meehan. Magic stuff !
In hurling it's 4 senior titles. The first was in 1923 but the second didn't happen for another 57 years in 1980. That win in 1980 (over Limerick) was truly relished and has been celebrated ever since with the memory of that "Joe Connolly speech" and the singing of Joe McDonagh (later to become President of the GAA).
If you're from Galway you must surely feel the 'hair standing' !
