On This Day 1964 - Triumph and Tragedy for Galway

On this date in 1964 (27 Sep) there was was both triumph and tragedy in Galway football. They won the first of their 3-in-a-row All Irelands with the legendry John Donnellan as captain, beating Kerry 0-15 to 0-10. However, the victory was tinged with sad news that day for the Donnellan family as John's father, Mick, (also an All Ireland winner in the 20,s and 30's) suffered a heart attack, in Croke Park, during the match and died. His son John didn't know this when he lifted the cup.
John's brother Pat also played that day and John's son Michael was also an All Ireland winner with Galway in 1998.
