Thanks to the archive research skills of WilieJoe
a hidden treasure of old GAA video clips from the early 1920's have been unearthed online.
This, the 1922 hurling final is one of the oldest and featured the 2011 All Ireland hurling finalists, Kilkenny and Tipp. Kilkenny won 4-02 to 2-06.
Kilkenny were captained by the unusually named Wattie Dunphy, who in fact was the goalkeeper that day - and Wattie in case you haven't guessed is Walter ! Funny thing was that Kilkenny didn't beat Tipp again in the championship for the next 45 years!
Here are the 2 teams from that final

Tipperary
J. Leahy, (capt.), J. Power, A. O'Donnell, P. Power, P. Browne, J. Cleary, M. Kennedy, S. Hackett, J. O'Meara, J. J. Hayes, P. Spillane, J. Fitzpatrick, T. Dwan, W. Dwan, J. Darcy.
